Payal Kapadia Nominated for Golden Globe, Urges India to Watch All We Imagine As Light

Indian director Payal Kapadia has made history by earning a nomination for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards in the Best Director – Motion Picture category for her film All We Imagine As Light. This achievement not only marks a significant milestone in her career but also strengthens the film’s chances for an Oscar nomination.


In her reaction, Payal expressed deep gratitude to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and urged Indian audiences to support the film, which is currently still in theaters. “I’m deeply honored by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. This is a celebration of everyone who worked so passionately on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine as Light is still in theaters—please go watch it and support us!” she said.

Alongside Payal, other nominees in the Best Director category include Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez, Sean Baker for Anora, Edward Berger for Conclave, Brady Corbet for The Brutalist, and Coralie Fargeat for The Substance. Additionally, All We Imagine As Light earned a nomination for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language, competing with films like Emilia Pérez and The Girl with the Needle.
