Netflix India Delivers A Record-Breaking Half-Year, As Indian Stories Win Audiences Worldwide

Indian Series Are Travelling Across Every Genre. Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web became India's highest-ranked series ever on Netflix's Global Top 100 TV List.

Mumbai: Indian storytelling continues to reach audiences around the world at an unprecedented scale. The latest Netflix What We Watched Report (January–June 2026) highlights a record-breaking period for India, with Indian films, series, unscripted formats and creator-led entertainment finding audiences across the globe. Indian titles generated 688 million views during the first six months of 2026.

Indian films continue their Global Rise. It is the #1 contributor to non-English film viewing across and ranks #3 globally for overall film viewing, behind only the United States and the United Kingdom. Four Indian films, Dhurandhar, Accused, Made in Korea, and Mardaani 3 featured in Netflix's Global Top 100 Films. Leading the charge was Dhurandhar, which became the most-watched Indian film during the tenure of this report on Netflix, amassing 37 million views. Netflix Original films also continued their strong global momentum, with five Original Films featuring in the Global Top 500 Films, including Accused, Made in Korea, Kartavya, Maa Behen, and Toaster. Made in Korea also became the first South Indian film to reach #1 on Netflix's Global Non-English Films chart at the time of its release.

It was joined by five other Indian series in the Global Top 500: Desi Bling, Maamla Legal Hai, India's Got Latent, Glory, Kohrra. The Great Indian Kapil Show continued to demonstrate the growing international appeal of Indian comedy and unscripted entertainment, becoming the second most-viewed Indian series on Netflix by viewing hours.

As Netflix continues to invest across films, series, unscripted programming and creator partnerships, the opportunity is clear: to take even more stories from India to audiences around the world and further strengthen India's position as one of the world's leading creative and storytelling powerhouses.
