The much-anticipated action entertainer War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Telugu superstar NTR, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on August 14, 2025. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is being positioned as a massive pan-India spectacle. However, its initial promotional campaign has sparked unexpected backlash online.
The makers recently kicked off promotions by unveiling a series of countdown posters. While die-hard fans welcomed the start of promotions, many netizens expressed disappointment over the quality and design of the posters.
Several users took to social media to voice their displeasure. One sarcastically asked, "Kitne paise bachaye hai through these posters?" (How much money did they save on these posters?). Another bluntly remarked, "They are killing the hype of the film by releasing cheap quality posters."
Comments such as “Poor Poster of the year” and “This War 2 poster looks like a loud, over-the-top PicsArt mess, way too trying hard for a mature vibe” echoed similar sentiments. Another user lamented, "Itne bekar posters, announcement ke time pe jo hype thi, wo khatam ho gayi ab" (Such bad posters, all the excitement that existed during the announcement has now faded). Yet another asked, “Aise posters kaun bana raha hai?” (Who is making these kinds of posters?).
Despite the backlash, excitement for the film remains high—especially among fans of NTR, who will be making his much-anticipated Bollywood debut with War 2, reportedly playing a dark and intense role. The film is expected to help the Telugu star expand his fan base across India and beyond.
“After Prabhas and Allu Arjun, NTR is now eyeing pan-India stardom,” says a leading film distributor. “War 2 has all the makings of a commercial winner, provided the content connects with audiences worldwide.”
Whether the early criticism will impact the film’s momentum remains to be seen. For now, all eyes are on how the makers respond with the next leg of promotions.
