Netflix Invites India's Next Generation of Creative Writers to Shape the Future of Storytelling
Netflix NextGen India Writers’ Program is a new talent development initiative designed to identify and nurture emerging writers from India

Mumbai: Indian storytelling has never had a bigger stage. Over the last decade, stories rooted in India's cultures, languages and lived experiences have found audiences not just at home, but around the world. As the creative ecosystem continues to grow, so does the opportunity to discover the next generation of storytellers who will shape what comes next — and the Netflix NextGen India Writers’ Program is Netflix India's search for those voices.
Building on this commitment, Netflix is bringing its global talent development initiative to India for the first time, giving a new generation of creative writers an opportunity to convert their ideas into a Netflix show. India is the third country, after France and the Netherlands, to host this initiative.
Open to writers with a maximum of three years of professional writing experience, the two-month hybrid programme will provide selected participants with mentorship, workshops and hands-on support from industry experts. Applications for the program run from July 1 through September 1, 2026. By the end of the programme, the writers will have developed original series concepts into professionally developed series bibles, learning how stories evolve from an initial idea into a compelling series for the screen.
