Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Play a Physics Genius in Global Heist Thriller ‘The Great Escape: Faraar’
Nawaz's unmatchable ability to convey complexity with quiet power and vulnerability has helped enhance the power of the intriguing story line.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui stars as a physics professor caught in a global heist in the upcoming film, The Great Escape: Faraar. Leveraging his scientific knowledge to orchestrate a daring escape, Nawazuddin brings his signature blend of intellect, emotion, and drama to the role. His unmatched ability to convey complexity through quiet power and vulnerability significantly enhances this intriguing storyline.
Filmmaker Kushagra Sharma makes his mainstream Hindi cinema debut with The Great Escape: Faraar, a project that mirrors his storytelling strengths: psychological depth, emotionally rich characters, and a global creative vision. Having already gained international recognition for his short films at festivals in Paris, Budapest, Hong Kong, and MAMI Mumbai, Sharma is thrilled to have Siddiqui as his protagonist.
On casting Nawazuddin, Sharma says, "Nawaz sir brings an unmatched honesty to every role. For Faraar, I needed an actor who could speak through stillness—someone who understands the psychology of conflict without relying on loud performances. He was undoubtedly my only choice."
When asked if Nawazuddin was his first choice and if he accepted the role immediately, Sharma smiled and added, "Indeed, Nawaz was my first choice. I’m grateful he believed in our script, which was written with deep psychological layers and a global vision. Stepping into this complex world interested him instantly, and he said yes right away."
The film boasts an impressive international ensemble, including Hollywood actor Ilia Volok (Mission: Impossible) as the antagonist, and National Award winners Parth Bhalerao and Treesha Thosar. Adding to the film's global scale, the score is composed by Ivan Lacamara, famous for his work on the hit series Money Heist.
