Sitar virtuoso Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is on a ‘Sitar For Mental Health’ India tour. On April 11, he held the Mumbai leg of his tour and did what he does best - expanding the relevance of traditional and neo-classical music across listeners, especially the Gen Z. Nearly 5000-6000 members - ranging between 18-80 years of age graced the show, who not only connected with Rishab’s musical magic, but also resonated with the spiritual depth and meditative power of classical music.
Apart from the general audience, politician Aaditya Thackeray also arrived with his mother, Rashmi Thackeray. Besides the political attendees, acclaimed Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra also marked her presence to experience the fusion of traditional music and contemporary influence. Rishab Sharma kicked off the show on a stellar note - he reimagined ‘Zara Zara x Tinka Tinka’, ‘Tumhi Dekho Na’, and created an epic fusion of ‘Harry Potter x Game of Thrones’ - leaving the audience visibly moved and filled with emotion by the end of the show.
With over 50,000 tickets sold, Rishab has added a second show in Mumbai after witnessing the surging demand. After Mumbai, Rishab is set to spread his magic across Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Indore, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Being the youngest and the last disciple of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Rishab Sharma is creating a cultural shift where ragas are meeting reels, traditional music is marrying novelty, and young listeners are connecting to it. Classical music is thriving under Rishab Sharma’s strings, and it would be safe to say that he’s creating a revolution.
