NCPA’s Home Grown Series Returns with Fresh Independent Music Acts

The series kicks off this February with Bengaluru’s Derek & The Cats and Pune’s Prithviraj Jadhav and The Dangermen, showcasing India’s diverse music scene

After a successful debut in October 2023, the NCPA’s Home Grown concert series returns this February with two exciting performances that spotlight the best of India’s independent music scene. Held across two evenings, the NCPA’s Experimental Theatre will feature Bengaluru’s jazz-fusion collective Derek & The Cats and Pune’s dynamic rock band Prithviraj Jadhav and The Dangermen.

Day 1: Derek & The Cats | 7 PM, February 21, 2025

On February 21, Bengaluru’s Derek & The Cats will take to the stage, bringing their signature jazz-fusion sound to the NCPA. Fresh from their successful six-city tour and the Oddball Festival 2023, the seven-piece ensemble formed by Derek Mathias in the pandemic era will perform their mellow, contemporary jazz fusion grooves. Featuring musicians like bassist Vishal Varier and saxophonist Gautam David, the band will offer a sneak peek into their upcoming album, including recent hits like Jonty Patel and Ratna Mahal.

Day 2: Prithviraj Jadhav and The Dangermen | 6:30 PM, February 22, 2025

On February 22, Prithviraj Jadhav and The Dangermen will present a mix of hard rock, blues, and country-folk melodies. Known for their shifting tempos and diverse musical influences, the quartet’s performance will include originals like My Imperfections and You Too Will Fly. With Prithviraj Jadhav on guitar and vocals, along with Vinay Rao, Karan Barnabas, and Nicholas Umrethi, their set will take audiences through an emotional journey.

Both evenings promise to celebrate the vibrant, evolving landscape of independent Indian music.
