Hyderabad: The city witnessed the marriage of classical music and compassion as Sangitanjaly Foundation, in collaboration with the government’s department of language and culture, recently hosted the fourth season of their Classical Concert Series.
Held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the event featured the distinguished Pt Bhuvanesh Komkali, with Ajinkya Joshi on the tabla and Abhishek Shinkar on the harmonium, in a concert dedicated to the cause of Autism Ashram.
Dr Kundra, director of Autism Ashram, highlighted the importance of empathy over sympathy towards individuals with autism, especially during the World Autism Week. He urged the audience to be more sensitive and supportive of those who rely on caregivers for their daily needs.
Dr Mammidi Hari Krishna, director of the language and culture department, reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering art and cultural activities. Abhijeet Bhattacharjee, chairman of Sangitanjaly Foundation, thanked people's for their support, and added that the concert series served as a platform to showcase the diverse styles of Indian classical music and its stalwarts.
Pt Bhuvanesh Komkali enthralled the audience with his renditions of ragas. The concert began with a Bara Khayal in Nand raag, transitioning through various compositions before concluding with an Abhang and nirguni bhajans.
A prodigy from Indore, Pt Komkali started learning music from an early age, from his grandmother Vasundhara Komkali and later from Pandit Madhup Mudgal. His performances reflect his deep-rooted family heritage in classical music but also his dedication to preserving and advancing this legacy, a statement said. Pt Komkali’s contributions extended beyond performances to composing music for films and dance concerts, further cementing his place in the world of classical music.
