AR Rahman collaborates with Bishop Briggs for Love Sonia

The film is scheduled to release in India on September 14.

The Academy Award-winning AR Rahman has collaborated with international musician and singer Bishop Briggs to create a song titled “I am more” for the forthcoming film, Love Sonia.

The film, which marks the directorial debut of Slumdog Millionaire line producer Tabrez Noorani, tells the hard-hitting story of a 17-year-old girl who risks her life to rescue her sister from the sex trade. It’s been shot in India, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.

Briggs recently took to Facebook to share her thoughts on her collaboration with the Oscar winner. “Beyond honoured that I got to collaborate with A.R.Rahman and Rianjali on a song in Love Sonia.

Love Sonia is more than a film; it’s a movement, a conversation and an opening into what’s actually happening in the world today. Thank you so much to #TabrezNoorani and his amazing team for allowing me to be a part of this call to action. Can’t wait for the world to see this movie! #LoveSonia,” she posted
Meanwhile, Rahman has said, “Projects like these propel positive changes in society. It was a pleasure to work with Tabrez Noorani once again, this time as a director, the Academy Award-nominated producer David Womark and the talented Bishop Briggs. I wish this project the very best!”

Love Sonia features debutant Mrunal Thakur playing the lead role. It also has several prominent stars including Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chaddha, Rajkummar Rao, Adil Hussain and Sai Tamhankar as part of its cast.

The film is scheduled to release in India on September 14. It premiered earlier this year at the London Indian Film Festival and won the Best Indie Film Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
