Taking sister's route

Pooja, sister of Sai Pallavi, has acted in an independent music video, made by a bunch of youngsters.

Remember how Nivin Pauly and Nazriya went on to become huge stars and a successful onscreen pair after featuring in a music video Nenjodu Cherthu?

Taking this as an inspiration, a young team is coming up with a colourful independent music video, which they hope will serve as a launchpad for them to enter films.

The female lead of the yet-to-be-titled bilingual project is none other than Pooja, Sai Pallavi’s younger sister. The motion poster of the video is all set to release in a week’s time and the makers have a lot of surprises for the song’s launch.
After making a name for herself in a short film titled Kara, Pooja wishes that her latest project would garner a good response — “I got several offers after my first short film. But, I was waiting for the right project. My family loved the way Madan, the director, narrated the concept and I gave my nod instantly,” she continues, “The making of the video was a fun experience. After doing a tomboyish role in Kara, I have a girly character in this project. I’m sure people will love it.”

But, the second year literature student says that she hasn’t thought about becoming a professional actor yet. “Honestly my sister and I never thought that we would act. We just love dancing. As of now, I’m concentrating on my studies and once I have an established career, I might think about entering tinsel town.”
Meanwhile, Akilan, who is the male lead, is excited and is optimistic that this video could get him the break he’s hoping for. “Though it has become a cliché, I’m just another engineer, who is passionate about acting. I have been into modeling for quite a while and won the pageant — Face of Chennai. The moment Madan told me the story, I knew this would take me to the next level. It is a sweet love story which everybody can connect to.”

Madan shares with us how they’re planning to turn this project into a feature film soon — “We all know how Alphonse Puthren, Nivin Pauly and Nazriya got fame through their music video and we wanted to try something similar. Though it is a music video, we concentrated a lot on the visuals and the crew, including cinematographer Giftson and music director Sibi, has done a wonderful job. I’m sure the concept has the potential to be made into a full length feature. We would be approaching producers once the song is up and running.”

On a concluding note, Madan also shares ambitious plans for the launch of the video. “Several A-listers from both the Tamil and Malayalam film industries really loved the concept and have said that they would like to be a part of the official launch. We are sincerely hoping that everything materialises as we hope!” he says.
