Sunday treat for the ears
Music lovers in the city should head to The Jose Thomas Performing Arts Centre, Tripunithura, for an evening of spellbinding melodies. Performing live at JTPac is none other than Vijay Yesudas. The concert will take place on October 29. Son of music maestro K.J. Yesudas, Vijay started taking formal Carnatic lessons in the early 2000s. His debut into film music was with the movie Millennium Stars. Vijay mainly sings in the south Indian film industry, especially in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. He has 178 Malayalam songs and 118 Tamil songs to his credit. Kattilila Polengo is his latest Malayalam song in the film Udharanam Sujatha. However, he has also sung some soul-stirring melodies in Bollywood.
Vijay has received numerous awards including the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Singer, and NAFA Award for Best Male Playback Singer. His song Malare from the hit film Premam, has gone on to be one of his most memorable performances till date.
At the event, there will also be a special appearance by Stephen Devassy. This popular musician holds the record for being the highest Asian scorer in piano exams at the Trinity College of Music, London. Stephen rose to prominence through the album Ishtamannu. He has worked in a host of films. He is also part of Rexband, a Christian contemporary gospel band. At present, Stephen appears as a pianist on a reality show on television. The concert will take place between 7 pm to 9 pm on Sunday.
