Sunitha Sarathy, playback singer
Right from his days in a band, George Michael has been an inspiring figure for me. The way he delivers emotions through his songs — straight into one’s heart — rather than merely to one’s ear is something I always try to learn from his work. He was not just an exceptional songwriter and singer, but also a great human being who always looked to giving back to the world in every way he could. His songs always addressed the under-represented in our society, and him being open about his sexuality while being a pop star gave a lot of courage to the LGBTQ community across the world as well.

#GeorgeMichael shaped our generation in many ways. Music was only one of them. This is a horrible year for artists and fans. RIP great one. (sic)

Vishal Chandrashekhar, music composer
John Elton and George Michael have been two pillars of world music and George Michael’s singing, especially in Last Christmas, is something that almost every musician takes inspiration from. The 90s were filled with his music and everyone who wants to get into the industry has something to learn from him.
