Rock & Rohra'ing!
1 One unusual place where ideas for songs come to you?
It’s usually when I’m lying down or taking a shower. Love being a bathroom singer!
2 If you were to explain your music to someone’s grandmother, how would you?
Every band I play with is completely different. To keep it simple, I’d say, “Granny, we play happy-happy music!”
3 Worst gig you’ve played at and why?
A gig at Indigo Live, where my vocalist, who was ill, couldn’t make it and we had to do an instrumental version of our songs.
4 Recount an instance where you’ve messed up on stage and had to make up?
At Strawberry Fields, where one of my drummers’ sticks happened to fly a couple of steps away. He literally played with one stick. Luckily, I noticed it and rescued it in the middle of an intense song.
5 Most overrated musician at the moment?
Difficult to call someone overrated. If there are, then I’m pretty sure they have done something to get there!
6 If you could bring one dead musician back to life, who would it be?
I’d say the greatest bass player to walk this earth: Jaco Pastorius.
7 What’s one pick-up line that has worked?
“I’m a guitarist/bass player.”
8 What does your mom tell your neighbours you do for a living?
That I’m still studying though.
9 How do you deal with “This is not my type of music” comments?
Fortunately, the kind of bands that I’ve been working with (Saturn Night Sky, Saffronni, Crazy, Haiku-Like Imagination and Switcheroo) seem to reach most of the audience. Especially, Crazy with the kind of music that always involves the crowd.
10 One word that best describes Bengaluru audiences.
The best I’ve ever seen! Very supportive and open-minded to new music. Bengaluru’s got one of the best music scenes and opportunities in the country and I’m fortunate to be a part of it.
