BLACKPINK Jennie Readying for Release of Her Solo Album
K-pop icon Jennie of the BLACKPINK group is readying for the release of her solo album, the singer said in an interview with the Korean branch of U.S fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar.
"I'm making a song that's by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique that is only Jennie's," she said in an interview with Harper's Bazaar Korea.
In 2018, Jennie released her single “Solo” and it is almost five years that she is preparing for another single.
However, the song gained the credit of topping the charts surpassing the 300-million-stream for the first time for a K-pop female soloist song in 2021. On YouTube too, the music video surpassed the 900-million-view mark for the first time for a K-pop female solo singer earlier this year in March.
BLACKPINK members are currently in talks with their agency YG Entertainment on whether to extend their contract with the company.
According to Korean news outlet, only Rosé will be staying while others — Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa — are eyeing pacts with other companies. However, YG Entertainment refuted the report and said it is still in talks with the three members of BLACKPINK.
Recently, the members gave the finale concert in connection with their "Born Pink" world tour, performing two shows at the Gocheok Sky Dome in western Seoul on Saturday and Sunday.
