Kozhikode: The Mehdi Hassan ghazal night, which was scheduled to be held on July 18, has been preponed to July 9 at Govt Regional Fisheries HSS, Tanur. The programme, being organised by a collective of ghazal lovers in Tirur and Ponnani, will start at 5 pm. “The change in the date and venue was due to the availability of a big stage. A government organised programme will be at Tanur beach and the ghazal night could be included on the concluding day as a big stage of 2,000-seat capacity could be available, “said Tirur Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Subhash T.V, who is one among the main organisers.
Gayatri, Umbayi and Aditya Saraswath will be the major attractions on the day. “Ghazals of legends including Jagjit Singh, Talat Mehmood, Begum Akhtar, Farida Khanum and Ghulam Ali will be sung to make the Mehdi Hassan commemorative programme an ever-memorable one,” added Mr Subhash.
