In 2006, during his studies, Jibin George Sebastian started chasing his dream of becoming a music composer. His hard work and dedication brought him success with the first ever album he was part of. All his accomplishments are the results of a crucial question he had asked himself a few years back: ‘What is the purpose of my life?’ Last year, that question took him to Hollywood.

Now, for the upcoming Malayalam movie Rakshapurushan, Jibin has composed and wrote lyrics for two songs which are sung by Vijay Yesudas and Najim Arshad. Zee Music has taken the rights for the songs. “It was a great pleasure working with the team of Rakshapurushan. Both the songs, Parayu engu nee sung by Vijay and Pranayam en kanavil sung by Najim Arshad are very close to my heart,” says Jibin. Directed by Nalini Prabha Menon, the story of Rakshapurushan revolves around Stephen, an honest man whose life descends into chaos after he loses everything dear to him in the battle against a corrupt system.  Jibin is all excited as he waits for the release of the film on Friday and says his experience of working with international and national artists has helped him in the project.

“Working in international projects, like the Hollywood movie, was something special. Their working style is very different and I could learn a lot from them.

Meanwhile, working in Rakshapurushan, my first Malayalam film, was relaxing as Malayalam songs as well as the industry is very close to my heart and I felt that easiness always.” Jibin says he has been lucky in his musical journey as he could always make the right decisions at the right time. If techie Jibin George Sebastian had not listened to his calling, he would not have a successful career in music. He composed the song Sometimes I can’t relate for the Hollywood movie Unbridled, starring Oscar nominee Eric Roberts. He composed and gave directions to Addie Nicole who sang the song. Jibin says working on music composition for a Hollywood movie was really challenging. And it’s not just another English song - around 10 studios from the world over had chipped in towards its realisation. “The McGlothins, producers of the movie, have been clients to my software company 20 Degree Productions in Kochi. When I came to know about them making a film in English, I asked if I could compose music for it. I sent sample music first, they liked it and the song occurred.”Unbridled is a 2017 film about redemption and triumph, told through horse-human friendship. It is directed by John David Ware. The film stars Eric Roberts, T.C. Stallings, Téa Mckay, Jenn Gotzon, Dey Young, Rachel Hendrix, and David Topp. David C.

Williams scored music for the movie. Jibin had also got the opportunity to interact with former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who had very graciously shared his poems for his musical album titled Best of Indian Youth, released on the occasion of the 64th Republic Day. It comprised 13 songs in different Indian languages. One song had the verses of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in it. Jibin George now is a full-time entrepreneur and music composer. He runs the software-cum-media company, 20db productions LLP. He won the All-India Fame Music Award in 2013, United States CFF Award for the best song in 2017 and entered the Limca Book of Records in 2015 (for his album). Jibin’s inspiring story of success took him to the stage of TEDx Talks Kochi edition, where he gave the audience a glimpse of his musical journey.  Jibin is now working on a project , eyeing a Guinness record, in which he will collaborate with international artists from almost all the countries in the world and compose a fusion song with a global language as a base.
