Adieu DJ Avicii!

Much to the shock of his fans and contemporaries world over, Avicii's untimely demise has left a void...

Grief-stricken fans grabbed their phones and tweeted heartfelt messages as their hands shook profusely; acredited artists around the globe paid their respects by posting tearjerking pictures and radiostations played his greatest hits on loop as they mourned his death. Swedish DJ, Tim Bergling, popularly known as Avicii, passed away at the age of 28. The statement released by his representative shortly after his death shocked his plethora of fans and a lot of them paid their respects. Avicii brought something new to the industry, an element that was absent for a prolonged time. His greatest hits left a mark on the world and his legacy will continue to live on.

Poojitha Kowligi, a BA student of Christ University said that she was extremely saddened by his death, especially since he was so young. She further said, “He is an exceptionally talented musician who had so many fans all around the world. I’m a huge fan of his music and I felt sad that I couldn’t see him perform live. It really opens my eyes about how short life really is.”

Akshay Krishnan, a BA student at Christ University, another fan shared his thoughts about his sudden death. He said, “I heard the sad news about a quarter hour to midnight yesterday and I was utterly shocked. His songs connected with my emotions in a way I could never explain. I still can’t believe Avicii is no more.”

Moksha Shah, a medical student at MS Ramaiah University, said that she said that he had a huge impact on her life and that he will be missed. She also said, “His songs were not just those that you would dance to. His songs like Wake Me Up had a lot of meaning. It’s sad to hear that he was gone at such an early age especially when he managed to captivate so many people with his music and lyrics.”

Fadl Afridi, a B.Com student at St Joseph’s college of Commerce attended his first ever concert which happened to be Avicii’s and thought his eyes deceived when he read the news, said, “When I heard that he passed away, it literally broke my heart because Avicii introduced EDM to me. I’ve always taken his song, The Nights personally and my favourite line from it is, ‘One day you’ll leave this world behind. So live a life you will remember.”

Avicii’s songs will always remain as an anthem for all of us and he will always be remembered through his music.
