Initially, Achutha’s career as a solo artiste where he has performed solo as in interactive drum sessions proved a turning point towards starting his career as a drummer and a percussionist.

“Recently we have been coming up with the wireless band, it’s more like we don’t perform on the stage, we mingle with the audience and perform like a flash mob. I also have this instrument called Zendrum which is a wireless electronic drum only a few people in India have this instrument. With the Zendrum, it’s very easy to interact with the audience and that’s how we came up with the wireless band”, says, Achutha.

Achutha is one of the few in Asia to have completed 8th grade in drumming with merit from Trinity College of Music London and one of the very few solo artistes in the country. He started his musical journey in a children’s band called “Isaithuligal”.

He often credits his current success to the children’s band as it gave him the mental stability and physical stamina to keep drumming for hours from a very early stage in his life.

He has also worked with the Oscar hero AR Rahman’s concerts at the age of 10. From then till now, he has worked with a lot of renowned musicians like KS Chitra, SP Balasubrahmanyam, A Hariharan and Stephen Devassy to name a few.

“I also play the drum with six pedals, usually people play with two or three pedals”, he adds.  He has also shown his prowess as a global artist by performing at world fusion concerts and global jazz festivals. Being an artiste of such high calibre, Achutha is often the choice of top cultural fests in Chennai like the IIT Sarang, Techofes etc, both for pro-show performances as well as judging the competitions.

Commenting about his future goals, “Will be representing India and performing at international events in 2020 as a solo artiste. Experimenting with music to entertain the crowd and excelling in the music field is my all-time motto,” concludes Achutha.
