Actress and singer Pragathi Guruprasad (of Super Singer fame), who’s currently a student at the University of California (UCLA), thought she was having a bad day when a friend of hers got into an accident, and she rushed him to the Ronald Reagan Medical Center. But guess who she accidentally ran into at emergency care — none other than one of her idols, Ellen DeGeneres!
“It was obviously totally unexpected and amazing. Ellen had dislocated her finger, and was there with her wife, Portia de Rossi. When I spotted her, I knew it was a bad time, but I couldn’t just stand still with Ellen two feet next to me! So I went upto her, enquired if she was okay, and asked if it was a bad time for a picture. ‘No time is a bad time, come on now!’ she replied, and we clicked a selfie,” Pragathi says, gleefully.
The 19-year-old goes on, “Ellen then asked what happened to my pal and laughed, ‘Hey you totally won tonight!’ when she knew he’d been hit by a truck. We were laughing so much. We bonded a little bit more, and then took off — but I’m going to mail her later about this run-in, who knows, she might meet me again!”
We sure hope so, as Ellen loves the Indian actresses... Deepika and PeeCee’s appearances on her show further drive the point home! Pragathi, (who was last in the news for being cast by director Bala in his next), agrees and says that right now, she is focusing on her music for now, and that an independent album is also in the works soon.
