Mumbai: Having worked with popular singers like B Jay Randhawa and Jass Manak, young talent Gagan Sethi has come a long way in the industry now.
With rap songs, especially Punjabi rap, having gained immense popularity in Bollywood over a decade, Gagan is all start his own record label. “I want to bring in the new talented guys who have no money to spend on their songs and promotion.”
All praise for Zoya Akhtar’s 2019 directorial ‘Gully Boy’, he adds, “Besides, I feel rap is emerging as a powerful medium of musical expression in India. I believe it’s also owing to the great awareness caused by much-loved films like ‘Gully Boy’, describing the struggle of rappers across India.”
“I am always focused on bettering the music, which makes you feel good when the day is done.”
He agrees that social media is crucial in ensuring the success of good music. “I feel social media plays a very crucial role as far as the music is concerned as it gives a voice to your music with a huge number of audience to cater, unlike, back in the days when only live performances were given importance. Now, sitting at home recording a song can give you the such number of views you can't even imagine,” says Sethi.
