Ash'ering the bass
Q If there was one song you wish you had written or been a part of creating, which one would it be?
Bon Jovi’s Livin On a Prayer, because every time we’re on stage and when we hear our monitor mix and see our sound guy scratching his head, we can do nothing but pray!
Q If you were an instrument, which one would you be and why?
A bass guitar – playing slap bass patterns because of all the slaps I’ve endured in school in Hindi class.
Q What is your guilty pleasure song?
Cheap Thrills by Sia. I love to hate it and hate to love it. Somehow we land up playing that song at all our gigs (blame our vocalist).
Q If you were a musical composition, which one would you be and why?
Hans Zimmer’s Time from Inception because I need more time in general.
Q What is the worst pick up line you have ever heard?
“I want to duet with you or save a drum bang the drummer.”
Q What is your one pre performance ritual?
To facepalm myself after seeing the amount of makeup my vocalist has applied to her face before we get on stage.
Q What has been your most memorable performance till date?
Playing a private gig in Coorg in December in the middle of a forest, freezing our gadgets off ( heh ). We go to play on an inclined stage and have our music echo around the hills. Then we ended up singing Cheap Thrills, of course (aiyo!)
Q Who is your biggest inspiration?
My dad is. He taught me how to play House of the Rising Sun on the guitar.
Q If you could trade shoes with one musician, who would it be? What is the first thing you would do?
Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. The first thing I’d do is fly my own airplane with my band, like he does during tours – that’d be fancy, no?
