Pandu goes hi-tech

The video starts off with a conversation between Pandu and a newspaper agent, on how the latter struggles to keep his business afloat.

With the impending elections, veteran comedian Pandu, who has acted in more than 550 films in Tamil, has hit the limelight all of a sudden. The reason being that the actor was the one who designed the famous ‘Two Leaves’ symbol of the AIADMK party! The actor has also ventured into social media for the first time, acting in a YouTube comedy series Selling — Then vs Now, which is trending on the Internet.

The web series is a hilarious ‘compare-and-contrast take’ on how difficult it was to sell household items in the pre-Internet era, as opposed to how easy it has become now. An idea of TrendLoud’s popular YouTube channel Madras Meter, the video features Pandu, Shylaja and Manas among others. It is said to be both entertaining as well as informative.

The video starts off with a conversation between Pandu and a newspaper agent, on how the latter struggles to keep his business afloat. It is rib-tickling, with the former portraying a funny character, like what he usually does in films.
Cut to the present, and it shows how his grown-up son uses the world wide web, to sell a motorbike on OLX, sitting in the comfort of his home.

Apparently, this video was part of a marketing campaign between OLX India and TrendLoud, who have collaborated to target Tamil Nadu’s Internet users on YouTube and Facebook.

“We’re confident that these videos clearly outline the key advantages of the product, while also staying true to our channel’s beliefs towards comedy and production. Owing to this, Pandu was our ultimate choice,” says Chidambaram Natesan, of TrendLoud.

On his part, Pandu tells DC, “YouTube is a medium that is new to me. I did not realise its impact when I did this series. I have starred in more than 550 films, innumerable ads and television serials, but I think the video Selling — Then vs Now has seen more success than all of these!” he says.
