Melody Matters: Sunneith Revankar

Sunneith Revankar is an integral part of metal outfit Bhayanak Maut.

Sunneith Revankar, an integral part of metal outfit Bhayanak Maut has for years identified himself as one half of the band’s ‘growl twins’. He has lent his vocals for bands like Skyharbor, Goddess Gagged, Limit Zero, Zygnema and Spiral Mountain. This year, the Bengaluru-based vocalist also dabbled in a non-metal solo act, and released a single, Pills, from his album Shipperman. A quick chat about the musician’s favourites:

One song that you listen to on repeat mode on your iPod these days:

T5 by Swet Shop Boys.

Five songs in the soundtrack of your life:

The Wild Boys by Duran Duran, The Black Dahlia Murder’s Statutory Ape, Pink Floyd’s Poles Apart, Saturday Morning Breakfast by Oceansize, and Modern Myth by 30 Seconds to Mars.

Is there any music you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed by when you think back?

I used to listen to a lot of boy bands in my more impressionable years — Backstreet Boys, Boyzone. Not sure if I’m embarrassed. We’ve all been into a lot of terrible music when we were younger.

How would you describe your taste in music:

Normal, I guess? I’ll listen to anything but dance music and Death Grips.

Your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day:

Usually on my old iPod or my computer at work.

One band/musician you want a private concert from:

Oceansize

One live act you would love to see at least once in your life:

Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, or any of Vernon’s acts live someday.

Recommend your favourite music album and in about 120 words:

It’s hard to choose a favourite music album, but if I had to ram one down someone’s throat, I would say Stabbing the Drama by Soilwork. Simply because there is not one bad song on that album.
