AR Rahman
Legendary musicians Ilayaraja and AR Rahman are featured in the new syllabus of XI Tamil text book. After 13 years, the syllabus of Tamil text books for plus 2, class 1,6 and 9 were revamped in Tamil Nadu recently.
In the class XI Tamil text book, both ARR and Isaignani are featured in a chapter under ‘Podhu Tamil’ segment with the title “Isai Tamizhar Iruvar” While “Isaignani” Ilayaraja is referred to as “Symphony Thamizhar”, AR Rahman is “Oscar Thamizhar”. Their achievements have been chronicled.
The text book also contains a mix of old and contemporary content, including Kaviko Abdul Rahman’s haiku, Prapanchan’s short story, Pudumai Pithan’s poems and Jayamohan’s essay on ‘Yanai Doctor Krishnamurthy’, besides essays on jallikattu.
