Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12 March 1984 to a Bengali family in Berhampore, West Bengal. A t the age of six, Ghoshal started with her formal training in classical music.

The singer made her bollywood singing debut in 2002 with Devdas directed by Sanjay leela Bhansali and there was no looking back for her since then.

Ghoshal debuted in Malayalam cinema with a studio album of composer Alphonse Joseph and later gave voice to his song "Vida Parayukayano" from Big B(2007). In 2010, Ghoshal sang for the English independent film When Harry tries to Marry
The singer has Four National film awards to her credit and was also featured five times in Forbes's list of the top 100 celebrities of India.
