A five-day musical fest is being organised by the Chembai Memorial Trust to celebrate the 121st birth anniversary of musical maestro late Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar. The event will start on September 11 at 5.30 p.m. It will be inaugurated by MLA V.S. Sivakumar. Ace Carnatic vocalists Padma Shri Parassala Ponnammal and Dr. K. Omanakutty will be felicitated at the function, which will be presided over by KTDC Chairman M. Vijayakumar. The Chembai Puraskaram - 2017, given by the Kerala State Cultural Department, will also be presented at the function. The winner for this year’s Chembai Puraskaram is Vivek Moozhikulam. The five-day celebrations will begin with a classical music concert by Ponnammal and will be followed by concerts in the upcoming days by popular vocalists like Vivek Moozhikulam, Ashwathy Thirunal Rama Varma, Omanakutty and N.J. Nandini. A violin concert by A. Kanyakumari is scheduled to take place on September 14.
