Sounds on Sand in Vizag on November 11, 12

Indian Idol winner Revanth, Leslie Lewis to perform.

Visakhapatnam: Vizag city, for the first time, will host the “Sounds on Sand” music festival on November 11 and 12 to attract tourists in the peak tourism session. The RK Beach will reverberate with melodious tunes and musical genius to celebrate the spirit. A line up of India’s top musicians and artists will perform live at the event. The tourism department has sounded the big names Leslie Lewis, Indian Idol winner L.V. Revanth, Mohammed Irfan and Asees Kaur and Usha Uthup for the musical festival.

Some of the top names like Baiju Dharmajan, Vijay Hegde and Ameya Dabli will be performing at the musical festivals. “Our aim is to give a visual and musical treat to visitors by organising the music festival in a grand manner. In the co-ming years, Sounds on Sand musical festival will become synonymo-us with Vizag,” said district collector Pravin Kumar. The Sounds on Sand will also promote local talent including “Echo and Kairoz” and “The Vizag Chamber Choir” (two city-based local bands) who will perform at the event.

“The opportunity for making it big is here through interactions during the festival with renowned artists across the region and participation in specially curated workshops and knowledge sharing platforms on both days,” Mr Pravin Kumar added. Executive director of AP Tourism Developme-nt Corporation (APTDC) R.S. Naidu said the APTDC will be hosting a series of festivals from November to February to attract more visitors to Vizag, Araku Valley and others places in the region. The Sounds on Sands will be attracting more visitors and music lovers from different parts of the country and it may also attract some foreign tourists. The entry for the festival is free, he added.

“We have planned to host Hot Air Balloon Fe-stival from November 14 to 16 in Araku Valley in Vizag Agency of the gre-en valleys of the Easte-rn Ghats. With 14 countries and 16 air balloons participating in the festival, the event is expected to draw a huge crowd from various parts of the country to the vall-ey,” said Mr Pravin Kumar.
