Tune in: Melody matters
Playback singer Tulsi Kumar, who has lent her voice to several big-ticket films in Bollywood such as Airlift, Sarbjit and more, shares her musical choices with us:
What’s the one song you have on repeat on your iPod these days?
Jag Ghoomiya by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I think it’s a beautiful melody and I listen to it on loop.
Five songs in the soundtrack of your life:
Zindagi Ka Safar: Because life will have its ups and downs, but the show must go on.
Aaj Main Upar Aasman Neeche: I am pretty happy with the way my career has taken off this year. So this truly describes my current state of mind.
Kuch Toh Log Kahenge: I think this song teaches you to deal with all the love, appreciation and criticism that comes in your way. I love the composition.
Mauja Hi Mauja: I say treat life like a party. This upbeat track is apt for that.
Saiyaan Superstar: I recently got married and I love singing this song for my husband Hitesh.
How would you describe your taste in music?
Any song that is highly melodic and soulful is usually what I like listening to. I also love the soft romantic genre which has a great lyrical value.
What’s your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day?
I don’t think I can bifurcate my time to listen to music. I usually have a lot of music constantly going on through the day, whether it’s while recording songs or listening to compositions.
If you could have one band/ musician in the world perform a private concert for you, which one/who would it be?
Adele — I love the depth in her voice.
And which is the one live act you would love to see at least once in your life?
Coldplay. I am looking forward to attending their concert in November when they’ll be playing in Mumbai.
