Triveni Music and Dance Festival Concludes with Spectacular Performances in Hyderabad

Aditya, an Autistic boy who excels in Carnatic Vocals among others performed on the last day of the festival

Hyderabad: The three-day Music and Dance Festival called Triveni concluded on Sunday night at Lalita Kala Thoranam. It was organised by Surmandal with the support from Canara Bank, the Department of Culture, Government of Telangana.

On the final day of the three-day festival on Sunday, a Carnatic Vocal performance was held. Master Aditya, a special child with learning disabilities (Autism) who excels in Carnatic Vocals enthralled the audience. This performance was followed by a Sarod recital by Shri Parthosarathi Choudhary, Senior disciple of Late Pandit Ravi Shankarji. Pandit Yogesh Samsiji will be on Tabla. The final program of the festival was a Kathak performance by Pandit Rajendra Gangani.

The three-day festival saw many performances including a Sitar and Santoor recital by Kum Shruti Katkuri(Sitar) and Kum Shreeja Katkuri(Santoor). They were accompanied by Shri Vijay Kumar Panchal on Tabla. Following this, a Percussion Melody was held by Pandit_Yogesh Samsiji at Tabla, Shri Taufeequ Qureshion Djembe, Satish Patri on Mrudangam and Tanmay Deochake on Harmonium.

Miss Sunil Mishra, the singer performed on day two. She was accompanied by Shri Ajeet Pathak on Tabla and Shri Rahul Deshpande on Harmonium.

Surmandal is a group formed by music lovers of Hyderabad way back in 1934. It was founded by the late Shri Mohan Hammadi, who served Indian Hindustani Classical Music for the past so many years. Since then it has been promoting Indian Classical Music uninterruptedly.

Surmandal has organised top-notch music events showcasing the beauty and depth of Indian classical music to audiences worldwide.

Late Ustad Alka Rakha Qureshi, who was largely responsible for introducing Tabla to the Western audience was honoured with a lifetime achievement award posthumously and presented it to his son.

Late Mohan Hemmadi contribution to Hindustani Classical music was recalled. Mohan Hemmadi founded Surmandal and has been promoting Indian Classical Music through it for the past 53 years.

The three-day Triveni festival was conceptualised by our late father Mohan Hemmadi in memory of our late mother Anuradha. Before it could materialise my father had gone to my mother. Today we are organising this as a loving memory of our late parents Anuradha Hemmadi and Mohan Hemmadi informed Siddharth, son of Mohan Hemmadiji.

Mamidi Harikrishna, Director, Dept of Languages, Govt of Telangana speaking on the day of the inauguration praised Mohan Hemmadi for his contribution to Hindustani Classical Music.
