Kolkata-based singer Madhushree made her Bollywood debut with Rajesh Roshan’s Moksha. Soon, she was noticed by A.R. Rahman for her voice. While she has crooned for films like Rang De Basanti, Kisna and Jodhaa Akbar, it was the song Kabhi Neem Neem from Yuva that got her the recognition, once again a Rahman project. In a candid chat, we talk to her about her musical favourites.

Any music you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed about: I can’t say that I’ve been embarrassed about any music because I have only come to appreciate them. For instance, as a kid I didn’t understand Rabindra sangeet, but today I love it.
Define your taste in music: It has to be music that takes me to a different stage in life.
Your favourite time to listen to music: There is no such a time I don’t listen to music
