At 21, Amrapali is pretty ahead of her game. In a candid chat, she talks about her upcoming single which focuses on embracing one's sexuality...

It's often said that starting young brings with it, a cartload of benefits. And, it really worked wonders in young Bengaluruean Amrapali Shindhe's case. At 15, she got her first big break – Being the first person to sing Basava Vachana’s in folk rock. There has been no looking back ever since – she appeared on The first season of The Voice India, where Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan turned their chairs for her and went on to find a spot among top 14 in Shaan’s team. All set to release her latest single towards the month end, Someday - the space between us, she tells us more...

“I’ve been doing covers since the longest. However, as an artist you begin to grow out of it, and that’s when I decided to rustle up singles on my own. Someday... is reflective of my current state of mind – it’s slightly different and sheds light on how you perceive topics like love, discovering yourself and your sexuality...,” begins Amrapali. Amrapali's first album Basava In you turned out to be a stupendous success. One thing led to the other, and she soon found herself doing an opening set Arijit Singh’s concert in Bengaluru for a crowd of 7,000 people.

The 21-year-old dropped out of college to pursue music full-flegedely. But, she’s pretty ahead of her game. And, she owes it to the support she garnered to pursue music early on. “I've always wanted to pursue music, and I'm glad I made the choice pretty early,” begins Amrapali, who's been a part of several bands and live acts. With genres like soul, jazz, pop and rock falling under her repertoire; Amrapali adds, “I think performing music is a very therapeutic act. And, the day I realised it, I realized how important it is to support other women in this endeavour too. And, that is how I decided to be a part of Strisvara, which is a project aimed at bringing women musicians from across the world under one roof. The idea was to get women from different walks of life to join hands and be a part of this.” Music aside, Amrapali loves catching up on the simple joys whenever she gets the time. “I love catching up on sleep whenever I can. And yes, I love reading poems too.”

Speaking of her musical influences, she says, “I'm mostly inspired by people around me. I love how there's enough and more to learn from- everyday things and people. I also believe in adding a touch of your soul in whatever you do.”for the role. Produced by Shalom Pictures, the film will hit the theatres on May 25.
