House of Bards: International EDM festival Sensation

Former Swedish House Mafia man Axwell played a set that strayed away from the commercial house he's known for.

If there ever was a party to be at in Hyderabad, it was at Gachibowli Stadium on Saturday night, when international EDM festival Sensation’s first outing in India kicked off.

Bringing on stage some of the biggest names in electronic music, the festival saw around 10,000 people in attendance, all dressed in white — a staple at all Sensation events across the world.

Things kicked off with resident DJ Mr White’s hour-long set, followed immediately by Lost Frequencies, who played his hits like Are You With Me. His set also saw the carousel stage’s eight arches being raised in a spectacular display of fireworks and light display.

The performance area saw dancers in cages being raised along with the arches, while the DJs themselves were perched on a towering platform that rotated 360 degrees.

Former Swedish House Mafia man Axwell then played a set that strayed away from the commercial house he’s known for, opting for a set with hints of tribal and hip hop — including Drake’s Hotline Bling and Oasis’ Wonderwall — to it.

Playing for the third time in India, the crowd’s response was evidently positive, as it was when Afrojack returned to the city and took centre stage, who played his hit track Ten Feet Tall at the opening and closing of his high energy set.

Dutch producer Laidback Luke finally ended the night with his headlining set, bringing a close to the six-hour-long dance-athon.
