DJ Wale Babu, this!

Before his performance in the city on March 11 at KTPO, Whitefield, rapper Badshah takes our rapid fire round!

1 If you were to explain your music to someone’s grandmother, how would you?
Grandmothers love my music. They dance to it! I have seen everyone from six-year-olds to 80-year-olds dancing to DJ Waley Babu, Abhi Toh Party and Wakhra Swag too! No explanation needed!

2 If you could rap with just one expletive, what would it be?
Let’s leave that blank

3 If you had to define the term “swag” how would you?
Be confident of who you are. Be yourself.

4 You’ve performed with Yo Yo Honey Singh. What’s the one word that describes him best?
Passionate.

5 What’s one pick-up line that has worked for you?
Haha, I’m married. Never had to use pick-up lines. But most of my song lyrics would work I think. “Club mein teri sarkaar banadoon!”

6 What would be your dream collaboration?
Quite a few. Anything that helps create an innovative sound.

7 Do native languages give better flexibility to rap in? Why?
More than flexibility, the purpose is to bring the concept of rap to the Indian audience, which is mostly native language speaking. I started rapping in Punjabi and Hindi because I wanted this music to cut across the Indian audience.

8 How do you deal with “This is not my type of music” comments?
There will always be opinion. Not everything has to be dealt with. I make music that I like making.

9 What’s the best time to talk to you?
Not in the mornings.

10 Your 2 cents (thoughts) on Bengaluru.
I am extremely excited to be coming to Bengaluru and performing on March 11.

We’ve been looking forward to it for a long time! We have even been rehearsing a lot to bring this first-ever live set we are performing for the first time in Bengaluru.
