Voice coach to train your vocals

This unique workshop promises to polish the bathroom singer in you.

Has your innate ability to croon away unabashedly, ever egged you to wield the mike and take to the stage? Well, that’s exactly what Sunil Koshy, a Bengaluru-based software techie turned music-preneur aims to do. While his popular workshop series, ‘From Mug to Mike’, intends to polish the bathroom singer in you – without spending a bomb on the classes or auditions seems to have caught the fancy of music lovers in the city, the enterprising Bengalurean is up for more on the front. The vocal coach tells us more, just as his latest music single is slated for release early next month…

“I’ve always believed that music is the ultimate form of expression since time immemorial. Whether we pray in a temple, mosque, church or anywhere else, singing bhajans or hymns or azaan or chanting slokas is the way we do it,” shares Sunil. His initiative has trained over 5,000 passionate singers to take the first few steps from amateur singing towards better singing and getting recognised at different levels over the recent times.

Armed with an engineering degree in computer science, he tells us how a change in trajectory sprouted out of a simple desire —to spread happiness through singing.

Fortunately for Sunil, Archana, his wife was equally passionate about the idea. Yet, they decided to tread the path only after putting much thought into it. “Since we quit our jobs to start this, we were serious about what we brought to the table. In our workshops, every participant gets to record his or her voice in the professional studio!

This has been path breaking, because earlier, only professional singers or musicians ever got to see inside or record in a studio. Being in a city like Bengaluru really helped. Bengalureans are willing to explore new things. This is a great place for new ideas!”

While the interactive sessions keep them occupied, Archana reveals how the two also share a common love for reading. “We both like to read a lot. We also love to watch movies!”

The workshop series are making waves in the city; there are a slew of other interesting events on the cards. Speaking about the same, Sunil signs off by stating,” I recently collaborated with Hariharanji’s chief engineer Saibu Simon and will be releasing a single music video. Kumar Sanuji has also recorded a song for our forthcoming project. There are also a few surprises on the cards. Wait and watch!”
We certainly are doing just that!
