Chitte movie review: Another pretty ghost in white!

For a change, the ghost here comes in the form a butterfly. It lets the couple to have some privacy till it starts haunting them.

Director: M L Prasanna

Cast: Yashas Surya, Harshika Poonacha, Deepika, B M Giriraj.

What is with the ghosts and their love for white! Well, in real world, 'white’ amongst all other significance, it stands for safety. It can even stop a war, but for reel ghosts, it is ‘dead opposite’. Thanks to special effects and advanced makeup techniques, most of them do look scary and ugly, but not this one. In Chitte, it looks pretty and comes in the usual white. Like every ghost on the silver screen, this one too has a mission in its afterlife, which is to avenge its killer. How does it do it, and with whose help, is the two plus hours of horrifying saga all about.

In a build up to it, the butterfly tale starts with a newly married couple moving into a posh bungalow.

For a change, the ghost here comes in the form a butterfly. It lets the couple to have some privacy till it starts haunting them.

It is at this stage, the director does a decent job with some good scary moments. Even Harshika Poonacha renders a fine performance, probably one of her finest act in her decade long career as an actress. Among the negative, the ghost takes its own sweet time in getting the job done.

While the intense horror are held effectively in parts, the plot revolves the couple and the presence of a disturbed soul. In between, a senseless humour gives the audience their much needed break while waiting to witness the face of the ghost. By now, imagination starts running through mind picturing the horrible and ugly faces. But, there comes a surprise.

Unlike its counterparts, this pretty ghost is active round the clock. Also, a clever one with a cunning smile. If Harshika and Yashas are good at being scared, it is Deepika who shines in white.

Not all prefer to watch horror movies, for reasons best known to them. Whereas, Prasanna's Chitte is something which can be enjoyed even by a faint hearted person with his eyes wide open, and still feel the thriller.

Though not the greatest of scary venture, this one has something for all especially to those who always have an excuse when it comes to watching scary movies. Go dare this butterfly, and fall in love with the ghost.
