Bengali film festival kicks off in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Tourism minister V. Srinivas Goud inaugurated the fourth edition of Bengali Film Festival by lighting a traditional here on Friday. Actress-turned politician Moon Moon Sen was the chief guest at the programme organised by Hyderabad Bengali Samiti in association with governments of Telangana and West Bengal.
A total of six Bengali movies and two Telugu movies will be screened during the festival.
A host of Bengali film stars including Ankush Hazra, Joy Sen Gupta, Gaurav Chakraborty, Sreelekha Mitra, Ankita Chakraborthy, Priyanka Sarkar, Rudranil Gosh and Ondrila Sen will interact with the audiences.
Speaking to this newspaper, Moon Moon Sen shared her experiences in Hyderabad.
“After the Covid-19 lockdown, this is my first outstation travel. While Covid restrictions were in place, it was a time for family togetherness. My two daughters, my husband and I were together at home, but sadly, my husband got infected with Covid.”
She recollected her association with Hyderabad and Telugu people. “People here showed me so much love. They gave me Nandi Award for Telugu movie. This city is rich in art, culture and traditions. People here are so simple.”
She said her greatest regret was that she had missed an offer for acting in ‘Mad Max’ TV series, which starred Mel Gibson, the Hollywood star. “The team tried to reach me, but I was away from home shooting in a remote village. In those days, telephone connectivity was not available there.”
