Enakku Vaaitha Adimagal movie review: Slow paced with a predictable plot

The film stars Jai, Pranitha, Karunakaran, Kaali Venkat and Naveen in the lead roles.

Director: Mahendran Rajamani

Cast: Jai, Pranitha, Karunakaran, Kaali Venkat and Naveen

The story revolves around Krishna (Jai), an IT guy who decides to commit suicide when his girlfriend Divya (Pranitha) ditches him for another guy. We get to know of his past when he meets the psychiatrist councillor (Thambi Ramaiah) but the latter dissuades him from his thoughts and advices him to talk to his friends, which will give him a relief.

However, his friends, a share auto driver Maidheen (Kaali Venkat), Ramesh (Karunakaran), a bank cashier and Sowmi (Naveen), a call center executive do not take him seriously. Krishna walks into a dingy hotel in a bid to end his life consuming poison. Contemplating whether to commit suicide, he spends the whole night in the company of booze.

Meanwhile, his friends feel guilty and start worrying about Krishna. Each one goes in their way to search him. In the process they land in different kinds of trouble. While Ramesh who is all set to enter wedlock gets caught at the hotel room with a prostitute, Maidheen is entangled by thug Karuppu Rock (Rajhendran) in a murder case and Sowmi is hit badly by a speedy car. How finally Krishna blames himself for his friends’ plight and comes forward to bring back normalcy forms the crux.

Except for few romantic scenes and a song for Jai (being the hero), all the four including Jai himself, Karunakaran, Kaali Venkat and Naveen have equal screen space and they are adequate. Thambi Ramaiah is loud and getting repetitive. Pranitha in a role with grey shades hardly makes an impact and has been wasted in a small role.

Rajhendran tries hard to evoke laughter with his oft-repeated mannerisms. Santhanam and Anjali appear in cameo roles and they impress. The major problem is the slow pace with which every scene unfolds, making for a predictable plot. Some of the funny dialogues by director Mahendran Rajamani work. Mahesh Muthusamy’s camera work warrants mention. Santhosh Dayanidhi’s music is passable.
