Mothevari Love Story Review: A Rural Telangana Rom-Com That Wins You Over

Mothevari Love Story is a modest, family-friendly Telangana tale that starts slow, but richly rewarding once you settle in

Web series: Mothevari Love Story

Where to watch: Zee5

Director: Shiva Krishna Burra

The seven-episode romantic-comedy 'Mothevari Love Story' makes you fall in love with the relaxed life of rural Telangana.

Although the opening scenes feel slow-paced, slightly amateurish, infused with farcical humor, it quickly falls back in track -- hitting the right chords.

Two stories run parallel, one is about two brothers, played by seasoned actors like Muralidhar and Sadanna, who are dubbed as Ram and Laxman, yet internally fight insecurities of possession and power. The other story revolves around Parshi and Anitha, a young couple, who plan to elope, but a buried family secret, a dowry-fueled land dispute involving Parshi’s grandmother, turns their romance into a comical crisis.

The strength of the series lies in its cultural authenticity: the Telangana dialect, village settings, and wardrobe feel strikingly real.

As the plot thickens around a quirky land dispute, the comedy sharpens and emotional stakes heighten, making the mid-to-late episodes notably more engaging.

Anil Geela stands out as Parshi. Varshini complements him well, matching Anitha’s innocence and playful expressions. Parshi and Anitha's eloping scene draws a laugh-riot, while their break up scene brings out sadness.
With each episode lasting nearly 30 minutes, the series is a good watch during relaxing dinners. Barring the initial slow-pace, which feels a little boring, the rest of the series feels quite entertaining.
Overall, Mothevari Love Story is a modest, family-friendly Telangana tale that starts slow, but richly rewarding once you settle in.
