Earlier there were unconfirmed reports on news portals that Priyadarsan’s super hit flick with superstar Mohanlal in the lead role — Oppam — is gearing up to get remade in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Now the director himself has told us that as of now remakes will be happening only in Hindi and Kannada. “In Telugu and Tamil, Oppam will be released with dubbed tracks. Mohanlal will lend his voice for those versions,” says the director who is in Mumbai in connection with production discussions with a production house, for which he is going to do a film in Hindi.
“This project is under discussion. Now I cannot reveal the cast and more details about this project,” says Priyan, also confirming that he will be wielding megaphone for Hindi version of Oppam. “About that also, now, I prefer to be tight-lipped. But I will announce the project when it is all set to start production.” Meanwhile, he says, Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar will essay the lead role in the Sandalwood version of Oppam. As per reports, Oppam will be dubbed in Telugu following the release of Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan in Telugu speaking regions under the title Manyampuli. In Manyampuli, Murugan has been renamed as Kumar.
