Kalabhavan Mani's death: Lie detection test on six

A single line report earlier submitted by the police was rejected by the Commission.

THRISSUR: The report submitted to the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Friday by a police investigation team inquiring into the mysterious death of Actor Kalabhavan Mani says that they were yet to reach a conclusion on how the actor died. The police are also planning a lie detector test on six persons who were close to the actor and the consequent request has been submitted to the court.

But the investigating officers refused to reveal the names of the six persons. The report says that even though aspects such as murder, suicide and natural death were inquired into, no definite conclusion could be reached. The report says that all aspects like the actors’ real estate deeds, acquaintance with women, and some goons were inquired into, but it did not establish whether that they had enmity with the actor which could lead to his death.

The report was submitted as per the direction of DGP by Chalakkudy DySP to Commission member K Mohankumar at the sitting held here. A single line report earlier submitted by the police was rejected by the Commission. During the sitting on Friday, additional secretary of the Home Department submitted the gazette notification of the state government’s order dated June 10 to handover the probe to the CBI.

The report says that a panel of medical doctors is still analyzing the post-mortem and test reports from the Regional Laboratory in Kakkanad and Central Forensic Lab in Hyderabad. Mani’s brother RLV Ramakrishnan who is the petitioner before the SHRC, said he would decide on the future course of action after studying the report.
