For Deen Dennis, it is a proud moment. Son of veteran writer Kaloor Dennis, Deen is debuting in Mollywood with a big budget movie starring Mammootty. The mega star, who associated with his father in many movies, will appear in a prominent role in the film. “As of now, we have plans to start it in December,” says Deen, a graduate, who loves thriller movies. His first movie also belongs to the same genre. Deen, who was looking forward to moving abroad, stumbled upon this idea while he was waiting for the visa.
“I spent around two years on this,” he says. “I narrated the story to Mammukka last year. He liked it. Since it is a complicated thread, he suggested taking some time to work on this,” he adds. The film is written and directed by Deen. The movie is a gaming thriller, and according to Deen, the theme hasn't been attempted in Malayalam so far. “That is one reason why I took up this subject. First, I decided to shoot it as a short movie. But I changed my mind once I developed the subject. I talked to Mammukka. He listened to the story scene order and liked it. I was not planning to direct the movie, but he suggested me directing it. So, I decided to give it a shot,” says Deen. “It is an out and out thriller with all the necessary elements."
Is he nervous to direct the megastar? “A bit,” he says. “It is a challenge. I am ready to face it and I'm confident about the subject." he says. The movie is produced by Gokulam Gopalan after movies like Kammara Sambhavam and Kayamkulam Kochunni. How much has his father influenced him? “His influence is there. I have watched all of his films. They have definitely left an imprint on me. But, my movie is different from his genre,” says Deen. “I show him my work. Before starting the script, I told my father. It goes under his surveillance,” says Deen.
