Kochi police quiz actor who alleged no pay in movie
Kochi: The Kochi City Police on Friday recorded the statement of the debutant actress who had lodged a complaint against four persons including actor Lal’s son Jean Paul Lal. P.P. Shams, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Trikkakara, who recorded her statement said the petitioner alleged that she was not paid the remuneration for her work in the film Honey Bee – 2 and that the accused passed lewd comments at her. She also charged that a body double was used without her permission.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Panangad Police had recorded a case against Lal, actor Sreenath Bhasi and two others for cheating (IPC 420), sexual harassment (IPC 354 a ), attempt to outrage modesty of woman (IPC 509) and acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention (Sec 34). “We’ll verify her statement based on which further probe will be held. The accused will be questioned only at a later stage,” he said. The Women in Cinema Collective, an organization of woman associated with the film industry, had demanded that the film industry should be brought within the definition of ‘workplace’ and to establish cells to address sexual harassment complaints in the wake of the incident.
