Nayanthara is socially conscious: Gopi Nainar
Nayanthara’s much-anticipated film Aramm is hitting the marquee on November 10. A social drama, Nayanthara plays Madhivadhani, collector of a district in TN in the film directed by Gopi Nainar who hit limelight during Vijay’s Kaththi controversy.
“Yes, after Nayan madam agreed to be part of the venture, it became sort of huge,” Gopi says. After approaching other top actresses for the role, how did he convince Nayan despite being a debutant? “Unlike others who did not understand my script in proper perspective, Nayan madam asked five minutes after my narration of the script, when are we going for the shoot? She was keen to do this film, which has a social relevance and message.”
He explains, “The film will explore the contemporary situation in Tamil Nadu. An incident will take place, which people could neither resist nor stop. How Madhivadhani as a socially conscious person in a responsible post tries to help and ease out the situation forms the crux.”
Having said that Aramm touches upon a present issue, can we anticipate any controversy? “I don’t think so. The censor has given a clean /U’ Certification. And it depends on how it’s viewed. The movie will create a huge impact,” he vouches.
So, what made her promote Aramm when she does not believe in promotions? Some say that it’s because it is her own production. “Movies like Aramm, which has a social thought, should reach a larger segment of the society. Perhaps that’s the intention behind it.”
