Malayalam actress abduction: SIT to question singer Rimi Tomy
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into the actor abduction and sexual assault case has moved the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court seeking permission to record the secret statement of four persons connected with the film industry including popular playback singer and TV host Rimi Tomy.
Sources said that the court has allowed the cops to record statement under CrPC section 164 before the Kothamangalam magistrate.
Earlier on July 27, the SIT questioned the singer about her recent foreign trip to the US along with actor Dileep, who is currently in jail facing conspiracy charges, and a group of other artists from the Malayalam film industry as part of a stage show.
According to sources, the cops are attempting to find out whether the actor or his wife Kavya Madhavan had executed any financial or property dealings during the trip. The month-long trip to the US was taken out between April 20 and May 14, 2017. Ms Rimi Tomy had then clarified she had no business dealing with the couple.
“The three other persons asked to give secret statement were also part of the foreign tour conducted two months after the attack on the female actor,” sources said.
Meanwhile, the Angamaly Judicial Magistrate court extended remand period of Pulsar Suni aka Sunil Kumar, main accused in the case, to October 10.
