No encroachment in North Paravur: Survey
Kochi: A survey carried out by revenue officials on Thursday found no substance in charges raised by local CPM leadership that actor Dileep had encroached on poramboke land along Periyar River at Kunnukara panchayat in Karumalloor village of North Paravur. Paravur taluk surveyor Suresh Kumar undertook a three-hour long survey of the land based on revenue documents at 11 am. “We didn’t find encroachment of any poramboke land and the plot had only the exact extent of land as recorded in the documents. No further proceedings will be needed on the issue,” said Paravur tahsildar K.M. Abdul Nasser.
He said the exercise was initiated following receipt of a letter from Karumalloor gram panchayat president G.D. Shiju alleging encroachment of poramboke land and another letter received from the irrigation department assistant executive engineer asking to survey the extent of the land on which a retaining wall had been built. Mr Shiju had earlier accused the actor of encroaching 30 cents worth nearly Rs 8 lakh lying adjacent to the two-acre plot alongside Periyar at Purapillikkavu that the actor bought in 2005.
Mr Shiju wasn’t available for comment after completion of the exercise. Earlier in the morning, a tense situation prevailed near the plot of the actor when protesters tried to break the protection wall of the actor’s property. Police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. The CPM activists had put up flags on the plot two days back soon after the allegation was raised.
