Final over' win
With a deep-rooted love for cinema and umpteen discussions about favourite scenes and frames, it was a matter of time before Vineeth Chakyar became a part of the film industry. But Vineeth shot to fame recently after the release of the single ‘Final Over’ on Valentine’s Day, in which he sang the cover version of Ouseppachan’s hit number Thamara noolinal and acted alongside actress Miya.
The video in two weeks has garnered more than 80,000 views and continues to get shares and likes on social media for the heartfelt rendering and ‘cutesy’ video.
Speaking about the success of the video, Vineeth says, “It is all part of the madness to experiment. Myself along with my friends and fellow teammates director Bilahari K. Raj and cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran started an entertainment firm. We wanted to try out something different. This is one of my most favorite songs so we decided to work on it and approached Miya. She agreed and out came the video. The success is overwhelming.”
Besides being a singer and actor, he is a professional Chakyar Koothu artiste too. “My father Kalamandalam Mani Vasudeva Chakyar is one of the senior most Chakyar Koothu artistes. For me, it started off when I accompanied him on the ‘mizhavu’. I have participated in Chakyar Koothu competitions at school art festivals and today I could say that this art form is a means of my income as well.”
Vineeth was also behind the popular short film ‘Nilam’ which dealt with the issue of lack of public toilets for women. “Nilam again was something that we wanted to create on an experimental basis. With leading lady Sajitha Madathil, it was shot over a day with a budget of just Rs 2,000 and we are happy that the short film is still lauded for its intense theme,” he says.
He is currently working on the script for a full-fledged feature film. “Myself and my friends had gone after quite a few actors and producers with various ideas and scripts. One fine day, we realised that things will not go forward this way. So we decided to take up the roles of director, producer and actors. Although I am an engineering graduate my heart and soul lie with cinema and I have a good team backing me as well.”
