Keeping fingers crossed: Lijomol Jose

Lijomol Jose is all excited to act alongside Mammootty in cinematographer Shamdat's directorial debut, Streetlights.

The prospect of sharing screen space with Mammootty has kept Lijomol Jose thrilled to the very bones. When director Shamdat informed that her first scene in the movie Streetlights would be with Mammukka, her heart skipped a beat. Until the day she joins the team and one slap of the clapboard goes against both Mammootty and Lijo together, her anxiety level is sure to stay up. “I walked in for the costume test so cool-headed. Yet I have been panicking from the moment Sham chettan told me a combination scene with Mammukka awaits first. He had tried his best to allay my fears though I am yet to get over my it,” says Lijomol.

The village-belle Kani of Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan otherwise throws caution to the winds. She says her so-far way was to get an understanding of the script, walk to the sets and take things as it comes. “I have not done any preparation for both my characters (Soniya in Maheshinte Prathikaram and Kani). It is like to see things work out on its own way,” Lijo confides adding that she never had any acting experience to boot until joining filmdom. When Lijo was so happy reuniting with the Kattappanayile... team came the bad news as Vishnu Unnikrishnan met with an accident on the location. “He was to be on the sets for a lengthy schedule. Going by the situation, I don't know what he plans,” she lets out a sigh.

Shamdat, the cinematographer of Kattappanayile..., had hinted a role for Lijo in his film much before. “During the shoot of Kattappanayile..., he told me he plans making a movie and I was ensured to be in it,” she says. She brushed aside reports of her being paired opposite Mammotty. “The movie is a crime thriller and mine is a significant role. It is too early to divulge more,” she informs. Lijo went on to play the lead in Honey Bee 2, of the Honey Bee franchise after Kattappanayile... A Kollywood movie also happened where she is one of the leading ladies with her Maheshinte Prathikaram co-star Aparna Balamurali. “The Tamil movie has a freshers’ crew. It is a story taking place in a slum. My character, though a demure damsel kind, is a courageous girl,” she explains. Though more Kolly calls came thereafter, Lijo feels comfortable acting in Mollywood.
