Vimaanam touches down with Xmas gifts
It's a wonderful Christmas gift! In a never-before-seen move in Malayalam film industry, makers of a movie are contributing the initial second show collections to the person based on whose life the movie is made. Not just that, all the theatres screening the movie will run free shows for public on Christmas Day. If you think it's a marketing gimmick for a small budget movie or a no-star production, you are wrong. The makers of Prithviraj-starrer Vimaanam are behind the historic decision. The movie, based on the life of Saji Thomas, a deaf-mute person who built a twin-seater ultra-light aircraft using recycled materials and vehicle scraps, has Prithviraj playing the role of hearing-impaired Venkateshwaran who dreams of building an airplane.
It was the star himself who made the announcement through his Facebook page. Prithviraj's post read, “On Christmas Day, every theatre in Kerala showing Vimaanam will run free shows for the entire day till evening shows! From there on, every rupee that we, the makers of the film, make from the 1st and 2nd evening shows on the day, regardless of how big or small the amount is, will be handed over to Saji Thomas as a Christmas gift from us. Make it count friends." Vimaanam, directed by Pradeep M. Nair, has a stellar cast, including Durga Krishna, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheer Karamana and Anarkali Marikar.
