Malayalam actor Jishnu Raghavan passes away battling cancer

Jishnu had been completely cured of cancer but had an unfortunate relapse last year.

Kochi: Malayalam actor Jishnu Raghavan Alingkil who had been battling cancer for almost two years, passed away this morning at a private in Kochi, Kerala.

Jishnu, who had been detected with cancer for the first time two years ago had been completely cured of it but had an unfortunate relapse last year.

On March 8, Jishnu wrote an inspiring message on his Facebook page, highlighting his zest for life and passion for living, despite his daily battle with his health.

"Being positive and always smiling makes a lot of difference. I'm in ICU now, nothing to worry this is kind of my second home now. I have fun here. I started smiling at every situation now especially the nurses who take care of me. Trust me it made a lot of difference. They do a tough job of treating pain and in I C U things r worse but by smiling and being jovial creates such a good atmosphere that everything just gets better, it's magic... smile is magic...try it," he said in his message.

Jishnu had appeared as a child artist in the movie 'Kilipatt' in 1987. But it was in 2002 that Jishnu made his acting debut as a male lead with 'Nammal'. He earned Kerala Film Critics Award for the Best Male Debut.

He went on to star in films like 'Freedom', 'Parayam', 'Pauran', 'Chakkara Muthu' to name a few. Jishnu took a brief sabbatical from movies but made a comeback with ‘Ordinary’, which went on to create waves at the Box Office.
