Rajeev Pillai has not been very active in Mollywood though he had projects in Bollywood and Kollywood. The actor is gearing up for the lead in the upcoming film Payyamvally Chandu. The Mollywood film is directed by Salim Baba who says, “I had this idea for the past three years and found a producer Dr Aravind who was keen to invest in it. I decided to cast Rajeev in the lead because he has the right physique for the role. He will also be learning a lot of kalari to lend authenticity to the character.” Salim also adds that all the actors in the film will have equal importance. The others in the cast include Dr Aravind, Chengiz Khan, Babu Antony, Suresh Krishna, Abu Salim, Bheeman Raghu etc.
The female lead is played by Iniya. Newcomer Niharika S Mohan is also a part of the cast. The shoot is scheduled to start by August 27 th in Vadakkancherri, Ottapallam and Palakkad among others. Salim, himself a martial arts exponent, says this was the primary reason why the producer has faith in him. Gunda was Salim’s earlier directorial venture.
